Our business is situated right near the Basti Petrol Pump. It is a handy spot for the trucks to pull in and out without much trouble. We deal with cement bags and it is heavy, dusty work. The warehouse is a big open space with stacks of bags piled high toward the ceiling. We have to be careful with the moisture, especially during the monsoon, so we spend a lot of time checking the tarps and the roof for leaks. The office is just a small partitioned area in the corner of the building. It has a desk, a couple of plastic chairs, and a calendar on the wall. We don't have much in the way of decoration. Most of our day is spent coordinating deliveries and helping the loaders get the bags onto the flatbeds. It is a lot of physical labor and the guys here are used to getting their hands dirty. We talk to contractors and local builders who need supplies for their sites. There is no corporate talk here. We just tell people what we have in stock and when the next shipment is coming in. Sometimes the petrol pump next door gets very busy and the traffic backs up, but we just wait it out. It is a simple operation and we just try to keep the supply moving for the local construction projects. It is a long day usually but we get things done before it gets too dark to see.
