Birla Corp, Birla Cement Works

This office is part of the Birla Cement Works and we're located in Bassi, over in the Chittorgarh district. If you're looking for us, we're near Soniyon Ka Chowk. Satish Malani is the name most people ask for if they get lost. Rajasthan is beautiful but it’s really hot and dusty near the cement plants. We spend a lot of time managing the local supply and making sure the trucks are moving where they need to go. It’s a busy spot because there's always something happening with the cement works. The office itself is pretty basic, just a place to keep the records and escape the sun for a bit. We have these big windows, but we keep the curtains drawn most of the day to stay cool. There’s always a bit of white dust on the ledges no matter how much we clean. It’s just part of the job when you’re this close to the works. We know most of the drivers by their first names. It’s a tight-knit group here in Bassi. We don’t really do anything fancy for our visitors, just some plain water and a place to sit. It’s a hard-working town, and we try to match that energy every day. We’ve been at this spot for quite a few years now and it’s become like a second home.
