Vetri Super Market

We opened up Vetri Super Market here at 52, Kolapakkam, right on 3rd Main Road, and it’s been a busy spot for us ever since. Most days start pretty early when the milk crates arrive and we have to pull up the heavy iron shutters. The sound usually wakes up the neighborhood. Inside, the space isn’t fancy at all. We have these tall metal racks that we try to keep filled with bags of rice, lentils, and different types of cooking oils. Sometimes the boxes get stacked a bit high near the back wall because the storeroom is small. The floor is just plain grey tile and it gets scuffed up from people coming in and out all day. We spend a lot of time just moving things around to make more room for new stock. On 3rd Main Road, there is always some noise from the traffic outside, so we usually keep a small table fan running near the counter to stay cool. People from around Kolapakkam come in for basic things like soap or tea leaves. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure the shelves aren't empty and the lights are on. It is a lot of lifting and carrying, especially when the heavy grain sacks come in once a week. We just try to keep things organized enough so people can find what they need without having to ask too many questions while we are busy.
