We are over at No. 71- B Mukundan Street in Krishnapuram. It’s a quiet enough street compared to the main roads, but we still get our fair share of movement at Varahee Impex. The building is a bit older, with those heavy wooden doors that sometimes stick when the weather is damp. We spend most of our time dealing with stock coming in and going out. There is no big showroom here, just a lot of boxes and a small area where we do the paperwork. Mukundan Street has a few trees that give some shade, which is nice during the summer months when we are loading the van. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who have known each other for years. We handle everything ourselves, from opening the crates with a crowbar to writing out the shipping addresses by hand. Sometimes a neighbor pops in just to say hello or ask for the time, and we take a minute to talk. It’s a very local way of doing things, without any of the high-tech systems you see in the big cities. We just rely on our notebooks and the fact that we know where every single item is stored in the back room. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. By the time evening rolls around, we're usually pretty tired, but the work is done and that's enough for us to feel good about the day.
