Sumya Farheen Textiles is located in Chennai, not too far from the cricket stadium. You can usually hear the crowd if there’s a big match going on. It’s a lively part of the city to be in. We have a small shop where we keep our textile stock. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we get new rolls in, but we make it work. Most of the business is just me and my brother. We spend a lot of time talking to local tailors and small shops who need material. We don't have a big fancy storefront with lights. It’s just a regular shop with a counter and some shelves. Sometimes the traffic near the stadium is so bad we can't get our deliveries out on time. We just tell people to be patient. We’ve been here for a few years and have slowly built up a group of regular customers. We don't do any big marketing or have a website. People usually just find us by word of mouth or by seeing the sign when they walk past. It’s hard work and the humidity in Chennai can be tough on the fabric if you aren't careful. We just do our best to keep everything clean and organized. It’s a small life, but we like being our own bosses. We hope to stay here for a long time.
