Arumugam Textiles

Arumugam Textiles is right over at No. 8 Veerasamy Street in Royapuram. We are actually quite close to the Royapuram Police Station, which makes it easy to give directions to people. It’s an old part of town and the streets are narrow. We have been working out of this small building for a long time. It’s mostly family running things here. We deal in all sorts of textile goods. The shop gets a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives. You have to squeeze past the bundles of cloth to get to the back. We don't really have a fancy showroom. It's more of a warehouse and a counter. People come by when they need bulk materials. It's noisy because of the traffic outside and the nearby station. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for customers or delivery trucks. Sometimes the rain floods the street a bit, so we have to move everything up on pallets. It’s not a glamorous life but it keeps us busy. We know most of the neighbors on Veerasamy Street. Royapuram has a specific feel to it, very traditional and lived-in. We just keep our heads down and handle the orders as they come in. There’s always something to do, like checking the inventory or cleaning the floor. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just trying to keep the business going. There is a small cat that hangs around the entrance most days.
