Sri Venkateswara Matriculation Higher Secondary School is right here in Gopalaswamy Nagar. Being inside the Ambattur Industrial Estate, things get pretty busy in the mornings with people heading to work. We have been here for a good while now. The building is just a normal school building, nothing too fancy, but it does the job. Most of the kids come from nearby houses or their parents work in the factories around here. Our classrooms have those wooden desks that have seen better days, but they are sturdy enough. In the afternoons, you can hear the sounds of the neighborhood while the teachers are finishing up their lessons. It gets a bit hot in the summer, especially with all the activity around Ambattur, but we have enough fans going. We don't really have a huge playground, but the kids manage to play some games in the open space we have. Sometimes the buses get stuck in the narrow lanes during drop-off time, but everyone is used to it by now. It's just a regular place where local children come to learn their subjects and get through their exams. The staff knows most of the families by name because we’ve been in this spot for so long. We just focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the students are where they need to be. It’s a bit noisy because of the industrial area, but inside the gates, it feels like its own little world. We usually close up around four and things get quiet then.
