About Sri Venkateshwara Matriculation School – Education in Chennai
We have been running Sri Venkateshwara Matriculation School at No 15 on Gowdia Mutt Road for quite a while now. Royapettah is a really busy part of the city, and our little corner is no different. You can hear the traffic and the noise from the street all day, but we’ve all just gotten used to it. The school is a matriculation school, so we just follow that board and keep the kids busy with their lessons. Most of the students come from the families living in the nearby streets, so it’s got a very local atmosphere. The building is older and it definitely has its quirks, like the way the ceiling fans rattle when they’re turned up. Our teachers are mostly people who have been with us for years. They know the families and the history of this whole neighborhood. We don't have any of those fancy modern facilities you see in the big international schools. We just have the standard classrooms and the basic stuff needed for the day’s work. Morning assembly is usually a bit of a mess with everyone trying to get organized in the heat. After that, things settle down into the usual routine of reading and writing. We drink a lot of tea in the staff room and just talk about the day's events. It’s a simple environment for the kids to learn in. We focus on getting through the syllabus and helping the students. It's just a regular school day for us.
