Sri Sankara Sr Sec School

Our school is located at 9 Vasanta Press Road in Adyar. It’s a nice, leafy part of Chennai where you can sometimes feel a bit of a breeze from the coast if the day is right. The road itself is fairly quiet compared to the main junctions nearby. We have a good amount of space here, with the senior secondary classes taking up most of the main building. The architecture is a bit older, with those thick walls that stay cool even when the sun is beating down outside. We have a lot of trees on the property, which is great for the kids when they want to sit outside and eat their lunch. The classrooms have big windows that let in plenty of light, though we have to keep the fans going at full speed most of the year. Inside the main office, there are stacks of registers and old photos of students from decades ago. We’ve seen a lot of changes in Adyar over the years, but the school stays pretty much the same. The staff mostly takes the bus or rides scooters to get here. It’s a very grounded place. We don’t go in for anything too decorative or expensive. It’s just about getting the students through their lessons and making sure they know their subjects. The gate stays open until late afternoon, and you can always find a few teachers lingering to finish up their marking before heading home.
