Our school, Seventh Day Adventist Matriculation Hr Sec School, is over at 16 Valliammal Road in Vepery. It’s a busy area and we’ve been here for quite a while now. The building has several floors and we use every single room for something useful. In the mornings, the street gets crowded with cycles, cars, and vans dropping kids off. We try to get the kids inside quickly so the day can start on time. It’s a regular routine of lessons, bells, and short breaks. The teachers carry their books and bags from room to room throughout the day. We have a small area for sports, but mostly we focus on the classroom work and finishing the books. You can hear the sounds of Vepery outside the windows all day long. We keep the hallways clear and the notice boards updated with whatever is happening that week or month. Sometimes the kids forget their sweaters or water bottles out in the playground after they play. We have a lost and found box that stays pretty full most of the time. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s where a lot of learning happens for the neighborhood kids. The office staff is always busy with files, phones, and parents coming in. We don’t use a lot of fancy technology, just the basics that work for us and the students. Most of the kids live within walking distance or a short bus ride away. It’s just our local school on Valliammal Road where we do our daily work and try to keep things running properly.
