Saran Sea Foods

Down here on S. N. Chetty Street in Royapuram, things start moving way before the sun is even up. Saran Sea Foods is right in the thick of it, close to where all the boats come in. It’s a salty, busy part of town. We spend our mornings sorting through what the fishermen bring. There’s a lot of ice involved, keeping everything cold while we get orders ready for the local markets. It’s messy work, and your boots are always wet, but that’s the seafood business for you. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s mostly just us standing around the crates, checking the quality and making sure things are packed properly. Royapuram is a tough place but the people are honest. We’ve had some long days when the catch is big, and some quiet ones when the sea is rough. If you walk past our place, you’ll hear the sounds of crates moving and people shouting to be heard over the traffic. We just focus on getting the fish out to where it needs to go. My hands are usually smelling like the ocean even after I wash them three times. It's just how we make a living. We’ve been at No. 81/121 for a while now and most of the neighbors know us by name. It’s just a simple warehouse setup, nothing to brag about, but it gets the job done every single day.
