Church Park is a place most people in Chennai recognize immediately. Our school sits right there, and it’s been a part of this landscape for a very long time. There are these old trees that provide a lot of shade, which is a blessing during the hotter months. The buildings have that older style of architecture you don't see much of anymore. It takes a lot of effort to keep an old place like this in good condition, but we do what we can. In the mornings, the gate is a busy spot with cars and rickshaws dropping everyone off. It’s a bit of a scramble sometimes. Inside, the classrooms have high ceilings and it stays relatively cool. We have a lot of space, which is lucky considering we’re right in the middle of a busy area. The staff room is always full of tea cups and stacks of notebooks waiting to be corrected. It’s not a quiet place, except maybe during the middle of a lesson when everyone is focused. We don't really do anything flashy. It is just a school where we follow the routine, ring the bells on time, and watch the kids grow up year after year. Sometimes the rain floods the yard a bit, but we just dry it out and keep going. It’s a place with a lot of memories for people who live around here.
