Sacred Heart Matric Higher Sec School

Down in Sholinganallur, specifically on the Old Mahabalipuram Road, you’ll find our school. We are right in the middle of Devaraj Nagar, surrounded by IT parks and constant traffic. You can hear the hum of the road from almost every classroom. The school has been here for a long time, teaching kids from the primary level all the way to higher secondary. We usually start with an assembly on the main ground. Even when it’s hot, it’s how we get everyone together. Our classrooms are very standard. The fans make a lot of noise, and the windows look out over the local houses. Teachers are usually seen carrying big stacks of notebooks. The staff room is our only real spot to sit for a minute and have a coffee. With so many students, lunch breaks are incredibly loud. The building is a bit of a maze with different sections for different ages. We spend a lot of our time just organizing schedules and getting the labs ready for students. The main gate stays busy in the evening with all the autos and vans waiting for the kids. It’s a practical place. We don’t try to be anything fancy, just a solid school for the families living along this busy OMR stretch. Keeping everything running takes a lot of work, but we just take it one day at a time. It’s our daily life and we've gotten used to the pace and the noise from the street.
