P.S Senior Secondary School

Mylapore is a crowded neighborhood, and Alamelumangapuram is no exception. Our school is tucked right in there among the houses and shops. It’s a very traditional part of the city. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day—the bells from the temples nearby and the street vendors. We’ve been in this spot for decades. The building is old and has that specific smell of old paper and chalk. We don't have massive sprawling fields like the schools out in the suburbs, but we make the most of the space we have. Every corner of the building is used for something. The staircases are narrow and they’ve been worn smooth by thousands of feet over the years. It’s a busy place. Most of our students live nearby, so there’s a strong sense of community. The teachers know the families, and often they taught the older brothers and sisters too. We keep things simple and practical. There’s no need for anything over-the-top when the main goal is just to make sure the kids understand their math and science. It gets hot in the afternoons, but the fans keep the air moving. It’s just a regular school doing its work in a very old part of Chennai.
