Poompuhar

Poompuhar is located at 818, Anna Salai. This is a major road, so there’s always a lot of movement outside our doors. We’ve been at this address for a long time. The building is quite large and we have a lot of items on display. It’s mostly things made by hand from different parts of the region. We have people who walk in just to look around and escape the heat for a bit. We don't mind. The staff here knows where everything is, even though we have hundreds of different pieces. From small trinkets to big statues, it’s all here. We spend a lot of time dusting and moving things around to make space for new stock. Anna Salai is a very central place to be. It’s easy to tell people where we are. We don't have a fancy corporate structure. We just have the managers and the people working the floor. Most of us have been here for years and know the inventory by heart. It can get quite loud with the traffic outside, but inside it’s a bit more peaceful. We don't really use high-pressure sales tactics. If someone wants something, they’ll ask. We just stay busy keeping the place running and making sure the items are looked after. It’s a steady job and we get to see a lot of interesting people coming through the doors every day.
