Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School

At No.15, Lake 1St Main Road in Nungambakkam, you will find Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School. It is tucked into a busy residential part of the city. People often talk about the traffic on this road, especially in the mornings when everyone is trying to get to work or school at the exact same time. We have been here for quite a while, so we are a familiar sight for the neighbors. The building itself has seen a lot of seasons. The walls are covered in charts and student work that we pin up throughout the term. It isn't a quiet place, except maybe during the middle of a big exam when you can hear a pin drop. Otherwise, there is always some noise from a music class or someone practicing for a play. We don't have a corporate office feel here. It’s more about the stacks of notebooks in the staff room and the sound of the bell every forty-five minutes. Our staff members are mostly folks who have been teaching for years and know the syllabus like the back of their hand. We don't go for anything too fancy. The focus is just on getting the lessons done and making sure the kids understand their math and science. Life here is mostly about the bells, the books, and trying to stay cool under the ceiling fans when the Chennai heat really kicks in during May.
