Mini Rice Mill

If you head down Work Shop Road to Devi Complex, you’ll find our Mini Rice Mill at Plot 16. It’s number 7/2-E on Thiruvika Salai. It’s a noisy place, mostly because the machines are always running. We’ve been processing rice here for the locals and some small vendors for a while. The air is always a bit dusty with grain, but that’s just how it is in this line of work. We aren't a massive factory. We’re a small outfit, hence the name. We like the fact that we can talk to every person who walks in with a bag of grain. It’s a hands-on job. Sometimes the belt on the miller snaps and we have to spend the afternoon fixing it, which is frustrating but part of the daily routine. We don't have a fancy waiting room. Most people just stand around and talk while the work gets done. It’s an old-school way of doing things, but it works for us and the people around here. Thiruvika Salai is always busy, so there’s never a quiet moment outside. We’ve kept the mill running through all sorts of weather. It’s not a complicated business. You bring the rice, we mill it, and you go home. We try to keep our prices where people can afford them. It’s a steady life, and we’re happy to be part of the neighborhood’s daily grind.
