Lucky Exporters is down in Mannady, at No. 269 Linghi Chetty Street. If you’ve ever been to Mannady, you know it’s a maze of narrow streets and lots of trade. We’ve been on Linghi Chetty Street for a long time. Our building is old, like most of the ones around here, but it’s sturdy. We spend our days dealing with things and paperwork. It’s not a glamorous job, but we like it. The area is always loud with carts and trucks moving stuff. We fit right in. We don't have a big showroom. Most of what we do happens in the back or over the phone. We know our neighbors and the other folks on the block. It’s a tight-knit place in its own way. Lucky Exporters is just a small operation. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy stuff for us. We just handle the work and make sure things get where they’re supposed to go. Sometimes the dust from the street gets in, and the tea man comes by twice a day. That’s just the daily life at No. 269. We’ve been here through good times and slow times and we’re still going. There is always a lot of shouting and noise outside, but once you step inside, we just focus on the lists and the boxes. It’s how things have been done in Mannady for generations, and we are just a part of that.
