Kumaran Stores

Kumaran Stores is over in Chetpet on Jaganathapuram 1st Street. We are at No:11 and if you walk towards the railway station you will see us pretty quickly. Living and working in Chennai 600031 means dealing with a lot of noise from the trains, but you get used to it after a few weeks. The shop isn't very big but we pack a lot into the shelves. Most of our days are spent waiting for the delivery trucks to bring the milk and the bread in the morning. People catching the train often stop by for a quick bottle of water or some snacks before they head to the platform. It is a neighborhood spot where everyone knows everyone else. We don't have any big signs or loud music playing. It is just a quiet place on a busy street. Sometimes when the rain comes, the street gets a bit muddy, but the customers still come in. We keep the floor swept and try to stay organized. Jaganathapuram 1st Street has a lot of houses, so we see the same families every day. It feels good to be part of the local routine here. We have everything from matches to washing powder stacked up on the shelves. It is just a basic shop for basic things. We don't try to be anything else. Chetpet is a crowded place, but we like our little corner near the station.
