Kesari High School is a bit of a landmark on Royapettah High Road. We are at No 17, right across from the Jammi Building in Mylapore. The school has a very long history in this part of Chennai. It’s an old-style building with high ceilings and wide corridors that stay relatively cool even in the summer. When you walk in, you can feel how many years of history are in the walls. We aren't a fancy new international school with air-conditioned rooms. It’s a traditional setup with wooden benches and old blackboards. The sound of the traffic on Royapettah High Road is always there in the background, but we’ve all gotten used to it over the years. We focus on the state board syllabus and making sure the students are prepared for their exams. The staff here is like a small family; some of us have been working here for decades. We see generations of the same families coming through our doors. It’s a very grounded place. We don't spend money on big ads or shiny websites. We just do our work and look after the students. During the festivals, the whole area gets very crowded, and the school feels like it’s right in the middle of everything. It’s a practical, no-frills education we provide. We take pride in our history but we keep our daily operations very simple. It’s just how things have always been here in Mylapore.
