Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidhyalaya

Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidhyalaya is tucked away near the Anna Nagar Tower, right on 7th Street. The address used to be Old No U-44, but now it’s New No U-6, which sometimes confuses people trying to find us for the first time. Being in Anna Nagar means it’s a busy neighborhood, and we are right in the thick of it. The school has a long history in this patch of Chennai. You can see it in the way the buildings are laid out. We have a lot of students, so the gates are always a flurry of activity in the mornings and afternoons. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes when everyone is trying to leave at once. Inside, the classrooms have that typical school feel—desks, boards, and lots of chatter. We don’t really have a lot of quiet time until after the kids go home. The staff is mostly local people who have been with us for a while. We know most of the shops nearby and the people who walk their dogs past the fence. It’s a community school through and through. We deal with the usual things like monsoon rains making the grounds muddy or the fans needing repairs during the peak of summer. We just keep at it, focusing on the books and the exams. It’s nothing fancy, just a solid place for learning in a very familiar neighborhood. People know where we are and what we do.
