Hindu Senior Secondary School

Hindu Senior Secondary School has been standing on Plot No 1 along the 2nd Main Road in Indira Nagar for quite a while. Most people in Adyar know where we are. It’s a large plot, and the buildings have that solid, older look to them. We have a lot of open space, which is getting harder to find in this part of the city. The mornings start with the sound of the gate opening and the cycle rickshaws lining up outside. Inside, it’s a lot of long corridors and heavy wooden benches that have been around for years. We aren't trying to be the most modern place around; we just focus on the teaching. The teachers here have a lot of experience and they don't have time for a lot of nonsense. You’ll see them carrying stacks of notebooks across the yard or sitting under the trees during their break. The students are mostly from the surrounding streets, so there’s a real local feel to the place. We have a lot of tradition here, but it’s not something we talk about much, it’s just how things are done. Whether it’s sports day or just a regular Tuesday, the pace is steady. We keep the classrooms clean, the bells ring on time, and we do our best to help the kids through their exams every year without a lot of drama.
