Guruji Cottage Industry

If you ever find yourself on the Main Road in Kovoor, you’ll probably pass by 2/88 B. That is where Guruji Cottage Industry is based. It’s an old building, but it works for what we need. Being a cottage industry means we do a lot of things by hand. It is not like those big automated places you see in the news. Here, it is just a few of us working on the benches. We make things the way we were taught, without a lot of fuss. The Main Road can get quite noisy with all the buses and trucks passing by, but we are used to the sound now. We start the morning with a cup of tea and then get straight to the tasks. There is always something to fix or a new batch to start. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. Most people find us because they live nearby or heard about us from a friend. We’ve been at this address for a long time. The walls are a bit dusty and the floors are worn, but that’s because we actually work here. We handle the materials ourselves and make sure everything is put together right. It’s honest work. Sometimes we run out of space when a big order comes in, so we have to move things around. It keeps us on our toes. We just try to keep the quality decent and stay busy.
