Govt Secondary School Zarvani

Our school is tucked away at No 15 Baskar Colony 3rd Street. Virugambakkam is a busy part of Chennai, but our little corner is usually a bit more settled. Govt Secondary School Zarvani is where we work and where the local kids spend their time. The building is an older one, with rooms that have seen many years of use. We spend a lot of time cleaning the chalkboards and arranging the benches. The 3rd street can get narrow when people park their scooters outside. It is a standard government school, so things are pretty basic here. We don't have anything fancy, just the classrooms and a small office space. During the monsoon, we have to watch out for leaks in some of the older windows. The staff stays busy with all the registers and forms we have to fill out by hand. There is a small shop around the corner where we usually grab some water or a quick bite. You hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day, from the street vendors to the birds in the few trees we have. It’s a place with a lot of history in this part of town. We just keep going, making sure the gates are locked at the end of the day. It’s a lot of routine work, but that’s how it goes here. There is always something that needs fixing or a stack of papers to be filed.
