Down in Chithlapakkam, specifically on Abraham Lincoln Street, you’ll find Govt Secondary School Kareli. It’s located at No 1 in Nazeeb Avenue. Being near East Tambaram, the area is always moving. The school itself is a straightforward place. We don’t have a lot of frills or big signs. It’s just where the local kids come to get their lessons. The building at 600064 has been around, and you can tell by looking at the walls. Every morning the bells ring and the noise level just goes up. We spend most of our time dealing with the usual school stuff, like keeping the registers updated and making sure the classrooms are ready. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but that makes it a little quieter than the busy markets in Tambaram. We have a few trees in the yard which give some shade when the sun is really hitting hard in the afternoon. The staff room is usually a bit messy with books and papers piled up. People around here know us well. We aren’t trying to be anything other than a local school. Sometimes the fans don't work right and we have to call someone to fix them, and the gate squeaks every time it opens. It’s just a normal part of life here. Most of us just want the day to go smoothly so we can go home to our own families.
