Govt High School

We’ve been here at No.2-A, Bajanai Kovil Street for quite a while now. If you know Vadapalani, you know how busy this part of Chennai gets, especially in the mornings when everyone is heading to work or school. Our building is right in the thick of it. It isn't the fanciest place you'll see, but it does the job for the kids around here. Usually, the gates open early and the noise from the street starts to blend in with the sounds of students arriving. We spend most of our days just managing the classes and making sure the fans are working when it gets really hot in the afternoon. The hallways are narrow and the paint is peeling a bit in the corners, but that's just how it is. Most of us who work here have been around long enough to know all the shortcuts through the side streets to avoid the main road traffic. There isn't much to say about our history other than we are a local government school in 600026. People stop by to ask about admissions or just to drop off their children on their way to the market. We keep things simple. There are no big signs or fancy decorations. Just the classrooms, some old desks, and the daily bell that tells us when it’s time to head home. It gets loud and a bit messy, but it's home for us during the day.
