Govt Girls High School

We are located at R28 in the TNHB area of Ayapakkam. It’s a government-built residential area, so there are a lot of similar-looking buildings around us. Govt Girls High School is where we spend our working days. The building has several floors and the stairs are quite narrow. We have a lot of students who walk here from the nearby houses in Ayapakkam. The classrooms are filled with rows of benches and large windows that let in a bit of a breeze. We have to spend a lot of time on administrative work, like keeping the attendance registers updated. The walls are painted a simple color and have some posters made by the students. It is not a quiet place, as there is always some activity happening in the courtyard or the halls. We have a small area for the staff to rest, but we are usually too busy with papers. The Chennai sun can make the upper floors quite hot during the middle of the day. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just the ceiling fans. It is a very straightforward place with no unnecessary extras. We focus on the daily routine and making sure the girls have a safe place to be during the day. Sometimes we have to fix a leaky tap or a broken light. It’s just regular school life here at R28 and we do what needs doing.
