Govt Girls High School Pallupai

Govt Girls High School Pallupai operates out of the Chateau D Ampa building on Nelson Manickam Road in Aminjikarai. We are up on the 3rd floor at No 37/110. It is a bit of a climb if you are not used to it, but being higher up keeps us a little away from the constant noise of the traffic down on the main road. This school is for high school girls who come from all over this part of Chennai. The building is a shared space, so you see all kinds of people in the hallways and near the entrance. Our section is strictly for the classes. We have rooms filled with old desks and chairs where the students spend their hours. It is not a luxury setup by any means. The fans hum all day to keep the heat down, and the light from the windows helps with the reading. Teachers here carry their bags from room to room, and there is always someone looking for a piece of chalk or a missing register. Aminjikarai is a very busy area, so getting here in the morning can be a bit of a struggle with the traffic. We don't have any big mission statements or marketing talk. We are just a local school trying to provide a space for these girls to get through their high school years. It is a busy, functional, and very real environment.
