Govt Boys' High School

Govt Boys' High School is over on New Avadi Road in Kilpauk. The address is a bit confusing because it's New No 7 but also Old No 3. That’s just how it is in Chennai sometimes. Kilpauk is a nice area with lots of trees, and our school has been here for many years. It’s a school for boys, so it’s never really quiet. You’ve got kids playing on the grounds or shouting in the halls most of the time. The building itself is sturdy but it shows its age in some places. There are patches on the walls and the floors are a bit uneven. We have a good amount of space compared to some of the schools in the city center. The trees outside give a lot of shade, which is great during the lunch break when the boys want to run around. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment or high-tech stuff. It’s just chalkboards and benches. The staff room is where we sit and drink tea and talk about the day's lessons. It’s a very normal, everyday kind of place. We don't have a big gate with a security guard in a uniform; it's just an open entrance for the students. People in Kilpauk know us as the local government school. We just try to get through the syllabus and make sure the boys are doing what they’re supposed to do.
