Govment High School

If you walk down Elumalai Salai on the 5th Cross Street in Kovilambakkam, you’ll find us right there at number 2/112. This is just the local Govment High School, nothing more and nothing less. Chennai gets really hot, as everyone knows, so the fans in the classrooms are always humming away during the day. It’s a busy little corner of the neighborhood. We have students coming in from all the nearby streets every morning. You can hear the noise from the traffic outside while the classes are going on. It’s just a regular government building with those standard blue and white walls you see everywhere. The desks are a bit old and some have names carved into them from years ago. We try to keep the place organized, but with so many kids running around during lunch, it gets a bit chaotic sometimes. There’s a small space where they stand for assembly. We don’t have any big flashy signs or expensive equipment. It’s just about getting the lessons done. The teachers live nearby mostly, so they know the families in the area quite well. Sometimes the rain floods the street a bit, but we still manage to show up. It’s a simple place for the local kids to get their high school education without having to travel too far from home. We’ve been part of this Kovilambakkam community for a long time now, just doing the daily work.
