Government Up School

Government Up School is at No 118 E on Velachery Main Road. It’s a very busy part of Guindy and the traffic never really stops. You can see the school right there from the road. We have the primary and upper sections here for the students. The building isn't anything modern, just a standard government structure that has seen better days. We spend a lot of time just managing the daily rush of children. Most of them live in the nearby lanes and walk over every morning. We have a small patch of ground where they can play, but it’s not very big. There are a couple of old trees that provide some shade, which is a relief when the Chennai sun is really beating down. The classrooms are basic with simple benches and blackboards. We don't have any of those fancy digital screens or computer labs. The teachers come from all over the city using the buses or the local trains. We have our daily routine of lessons and then a break for lunch. Sometimes the rain makes the entrance a bit messy, so we have to clean that up. It’s a lot of work keeping everything running smoothly with the limited resources we have. We don't have a big office staff, so we do most of the paperwork ourselves. It’s just a regular place for local kids to get their basic education. We've been here for quite some time now and everyone in the neighborhood knows us.
