Government School Palanthamarai

The school is located at No 108 on Astapujam Road which is a very busy part of Choolai. If you know the Kannappar Thidal area then you probably know how crowded it gets around here. It is quite loud outside with all the trucks and bikes going past but inside the walls it is a bit quieter. We have been working out of this building for a while now and it has its quirks like the leaky tap in the back and the windows that stick sometimes. Every morning starts with the same routine of sweeping the front area and getting the chalk ready for the teachers. We do not have fancy equipment or anything like that. It is just rows of desks and children trying to focus on their books while the city moves around them. The Choolai area has a lot of history and you can feel it in the old walls of this place. We mostly deal with kids from the immediate neighborhood who walk here every day. Lunchtime is the busiest hour when everyone is running around the small corridors. We just try to keep the place running as best as we can without too much fuss. It is a simple life for us here on Astapujam Road. We show up and do the teaching and then go home when the final bell rings. It is not always easy with the heat and the noise but we are used to it by now.
