Government School Mangalgi

Our school is tucked away on No 17 A Pasumonmuthu Ramalingam Street in the Rajji Colony part of Saligramam. It is a bit of a tight squeeze on this street especially when the morning rush starts and parents are dropping off their kids. To be honest, the building is nothing special to look at but it has been standing here for a long time. I usually get here a little before eight to open up the gates and let the air into the classrooms. The rooms get quite stuffy during the Chennai summers so we try to keep the fans going as much as we can. We have the standard wooden benches and blackboards that have seen better days. You can hear the sound of the traffic from the main road nearby but once the kids get settled it mostly just sounds like any other school. We spend a lot of time doing paperwork and making sure the mid-day meals are ready on time. There is no big sign or flashy lights here. It is just a place where the local children come to sit and learn their lessons. Most of the staff have lived in this area for years so we know the neighbors pretty well. We do our work and try to keep things organized. It is just a regular daily routine for us here in Saligramam. Sometimes the rain floods the street a bit but we manage to keep things going.
