You can find us at No.301/55 on Vallalar Street over in Jegethambigai Nagar. Padi is a crowded place and our school fits right into the middle of the neighborhood. It’s a government higher secondary school, so we get a lot of kids from the nearby streets and apartment blocks. Most of the teachers live close by too, so we see each other at the local market sometimes after work is done. The school day starts early with a small assembly in the yard where everyone lines up. We don't have a massive campus, but we use every bit of space we have for the classrooms and the office. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint soon, and the desks are a bit scratched up from years of students sitting there. But it’s a functional place. We focus on the daily lessons and making sure the students are actually sitting down and doing their work. There’s always someone losing their pen or forgetting their notebook at home. We just tell them to borrow one from a friend and keep going with the day. In the evenings, the street gets quite busy with people heading home from work. We finish up our paperwork, lock the gates, and do it all again the next day. It’s just a normal part of the Padi community. No one is trying to be anything fancy here. We just teach the kids and go home.
