Government Higher Secondary School No 1 Bina

Down at 1/266 on 14th Street in Sowmya Nagar, that’s where we are. Government Higher Secondary School No 1 Bina is a local spot in Perumbakkam. The area has changed a lot lately with new buildings going up, but our school stays pretty much the same. It’s a plain concrete building with a couple of floors. We have a lot of students, so it can get pretty crowded in the hallways during the change of classes. We don't have much of a garden, just a few potted plants near the entrance that someone tries to water every now and then. The desks are a bit wobbly and the walls could use some scrubbing. We don't have a big budget for repairs, so we fix what we can ourselves. The teachers are often busy talking to parents or sorting out exam schedules. It's a lot of noise and energy every day. We don't have fancy whiteboards, just the old green ones and plenty of chalk. The kids live in the nearby apartments and houses. They walk over or come on their cycles. We don't have a bus service or anything like that. It’s just a basic school for the community. We open the gates early and close them late. It’s a place for learning, but also a place where the kids just hang out and grow up together. It’s not perfect, but it’s ours. We just keep on going as best as we can.
