Government High School Sharda

Our school is located at No 2, Kalamegam Road, which is in the Mogappair West area of Chennai. It’s a busy road, so there is always the sound of traffic in the background while we are trying to teach. The school is a government high school, so it’s built in that very sturdy, simple style you see all over the city. We have a small front area where a few trees provide some shade for the students during their breaks. The classrooms are spread out, and each one has the same wooden benches and desks that have been used by hundreds of kids over the years. We have a small room for the staff where we keep our lunch boxes and papers. It’s not a very big place, but we make use of every corner we have. The morning starts with a small assembly, and then everyone heads to their rooms. We don't have a lot of modern equipment, just the basics like blackboards and some old maps on the walls. It can get a bit loud when the school next door has their break at a different time than ours. The neighborhood people are used to us being here, and many of them attended this school themselves years ago. It’s a very ordinary place with a very predictable routine. We just show up every morning, do the lessons, and go home when the final bell rings at four.
