If you go to AP-Block in Anna Nagar West, you'll find us at No95 on the First Street. It's a fairly quiet street most of the time, except when the school bell rings. We’ve been operating out of this building for a long time. The structure is simple and functional. We have various classrooms spread across the floors. Each room has that specific school smell—a mix of old paper, floor cleaner, and maybe a bit of dust. We don't have air conditioning, so we rely on the ceiling fans to keep things moving. The teachers here are mostly locals. We know the shortcuts through the neighborhood and which tea stall is the best. Our days are pretty structured. We have a schedule on the wall in the office that we try to stick to. It’s not always easy when something unexpected happens, like a power cut or a sudden rainstorm. We spend a lot of time correcting homework and talking to students about their progress. There isn't much flair to the place. It’s a government high school, so things are done by the book. We focus on the daily lessons and making sure the building stays in decent shape. It’s a steady kind of life. We’re just people doing a job in a school we’ve grown quite fond of over the years. We just keep our heads down and get the teaching done before the sun goes down.
