Government High School Gajari

We have been here at No 2 Palamagam Salai for quite a while now. The building is just a normal government school building, nothing fancy to look at from the outside. Mogappair has changed a lot over the years, but the school stays mostly the same. Every morning the kids come in through the gates, some running because they are late and others just strolling along. You can hear the noise from the street even when the classes are going on. We have the usual blackboards and wooden benches that have seen better days. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, but we manage with the fans. Sometimes the power goes out, and everyone just sits quietly until it comes back. The staff room is always a bit messy with books and papers piled up on the tables. We don’t have a big playground, but the kids find space to play anyway. It is just a regular place where people come to learn and work. There is a small shop nearby where we sometimes go for tea during the breaks. The walls could use a new coat of paint, but the structure is strong enough. It is just one of those schools you see in every neighborhood in Chennai. We don’t do anything special, just follow the schedule and make sure the lessons get done. Most of the families around here know us well because their children have been coming here for generations.
