Government High School Barsaita Rewa

Our school, Government High School Barsaita Rewa, is tucked away in Shankar Homes on Veera Pandiya Kattabomman Street. It’s in Perungudi, Chennai 600096, which is a place that’s always moving. Being located inside a residential-style building like Shankar Homes gives the school a bit of a different feel than those big campus schools. We are right there among the houses, so the neighbors are basically part of our daily life. You can hear the morning prayers from the nearby houses while we are taking the morning roll call. The street is narrow, so it gets a bit tight when everyone is arriving at the same time in the morning. We spend a lot of our day just making sure the kids have what they need to learn their lessons. There is always a desk that needs a bit of glue or a window that won’t quite stay open. It’s very much a local operation. We don’t have any big signs or fancy decorations out front. Most people find us because they live nearby or heard about us from a neighbor. The teachers here are mostly busy with the grading and the lesson plans, and we try to keep the atmosphere calm despite the heat and the noise from the street. It’s just a regular school doing its thing every day of the week. There is no point making it more complicated than that.
