Our school is located right on 2nd Main Road in Adyar, Chennai. If you are looking for us, look for New No -100. It’s a government school for girls, and we’ve been part of this community for a long time. The morning starts early here with the sound of the school bell ringing through the neighborhood. 2nd Main Road is usually packed with cars and scooters, so there’s always a bit of a bustle outside the front gate. The building itself is older, and you can tell it has seen many groups of students pass through its doors over the years. Inside, the classrooms are simple with wooden benches and blackboards that have been wiped clean a thousand times. We don’t have any of those modern glass buildings you see popping up in Chennai lately. It’s just a regular school where teachers come to work and students come to learn their lessons. During the break, the courtyard gets quite loud with everyone talking at once. We handle the higher secondary levels here. The name Government Girls Higher Secondary School Chakghat Teonthar is a bit of a mouthful, but locals just know us by the location. Sometimes the fans make a clicking noise in the heat of the afternoon, but we just get used to it. It’s a place where we try to keep things organized despite the daily chaos of a big school. We just show up and do our jobs every day without much fuss.
