Gokulnath Export

We are over at No. 29 Tank Bund Road in Nungambakkam. It’s a busy part of the city, and our building is right there near the road. Gokulnath Export deals with a lot of different things that need to be sent out to various places. Our main room is usually full of boxes and packing tape and bubble wrap. It can get a bit chaotic when a big shipment is due to leave, with everyone trying to make sure the labels are correct and the items are packed safely. We don’t have a lot of decorations on the walls, just some calendars and a few notes about shipping schedules. The windows look out onto Tank Bund Road, so we see the traffic jams every day. Sometimes it feels like we spend more time talking to delivery drivers than we do to each other. We drink a lot of tea to keep us going through the afternoon slumps. It’s a straightforward business, really. We get the goods in, we check them over, and we send them where they need to go. There’s a certain satisfaction in seeing a stack of boxes disappear into the back of a van, knowing they are headed somewhere far away. We just keep at it, day after day, making sure we don't mix up the addresses or miss a deadline. It’s just how we earn our living here in Nungambakkam.
