Chettinad Vidyashram

Rajah Annamalaipuram is a nice part of the city, and our school is right in the heart of it. It’s a huge campus, probably one of the biggest in this area. We’re quite close to the river, so sometimes you get a bit of a breeze, which helps with the Chennai heat. The school is always bustling. We have thousands of students, so the logistics of the morning drop-off and the afternoon pick-up are a bit like a military operation. There are cycles and buses everywhere. The buildings are large and house so many classrooms it’s easy to get lost if you’re new. We have a big auditorium where we hold all our events. It’s a busy, energetic place. You can hear music coming from one room and someone practicing a speech in another. We don't have much downtime. Even during the holidays, there’s usually some maintenance or planning going on. The staff room is a busy hub of activity, with teachers constantly on the move. We aren't about being fancy or putting on a show. We just have a lot of kids to look after and a lot of lessons to get through. It’s a very grounded place despite its size. Most people in this part of town have some connection to us.
