Canan School Of Catering & Hotel Management

The school is located at 1/75 on Poonamallee High Road in Nerkundam. It is a busy stretch of road and there is always the sound of traffic outside our doors. Inside, you will usually find a group of students wearing their white coats and hats. They are usually busy in the kitchen area. You can hear the sound of knives hitting cutting boards and water boiling in the big pots we use for practice. We have been teaching here for some time now. It is not a shiny new building with glass walls, but it works for what we need. We have some old stoves that we know how to fix ourselves when they act up. The classrooms have desks that have seen a lot of use over the years. We teach people how to cook and how to manage a hotel floor without making it too complicated. Most of the staff here used to work in big hotels themselves, so they know the real work. It involves a lot of standing on your feet and getting your hands dirty. We do not use big words or fancy theories. It is just about learning the right way to hold a pan or how to talk to a guest who is having a bad day. The afternoon sun hits the back windows and makes the kitchen really warm, so we usually open the side door.
