Afnaan Collection

If you go down to 2nd Line Beach Road in Parrys, Chennai, you’ll find us on the first floor of the MRV Complex at No. 5. Afnaan Collection is basically a place where we keep all our fabrics and the clothes we sell. Parrys is a very crowded part of the city, especially near the beach road where all the wholesalers are. It’s always full of people moving big bundles of goods around on their shoulders. Our space is packed with different collections we’ve brought in over the months. It’s definitely not a fancy boutique with bright lights and mirrors everywhere. It’s more of a warehouse feel where we keep everything organized on metal shelves. We spend our days checking the quality of the materials and packing up orders for customers. Sometimes it feels like we’re running out of room because new stuff arrives before the old stuff is gone. We’ve been here for a while and most of the other shopkeepers know us by name. We don't do much advertising; people just find us by word of mouth or by walking past the complex looking for a deal. It gets really hot in Chennai during the summer, so we have the ceiling fans running constantly. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily tasks as they come. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting boxes and measuring out fabric, but we like being part of the local bustle.
