Sree Gokulam Public School

You will find Sree Gokulam Public School over in Chengalpattu, specifically in the Metro Sameera Gardens area of Nenmeli Village. It is a bit of a distance from the main bazaar, but it is not too hard to get to. The school is a public one, and the neighborhood around us is still growing and changing. Our building is newer than some of the old schools in town, but it already has that lived-in look with marks on the walls and chalk dust on the floor tiles. We have a decent amount of open space around the building, which is nice for a change. In the early morning, you can hear the village waking up along with the school bells. We have students coming from the new houses nearby and also from the older parts of Nenmeli. The teachers travel in from different parts of Chengalpattu every day. We have a small area where the staff sits, and it is usually cluttered with tea cups and half-corrected textbooks. We do not have a big office with a secretary to handle everything. If someone needs to talk to the person in charge, they just wait in the hallway like everyone else. We focus on the basic things here like reading and writing. It is a very practical way of doing things. We do not have big events every week. We just stick to our schedule and finish the work before sunset.
