Mt. Horeb English School

Mt. Horeb English School is tucked away in Flat No 347 on Kaveri Street. Arul Nagar is a busy little pocket of Guduvanchery where people are always moving around. Being in a residential area like this means we’re right in the middle of everything, which has its ups and downs. You can hear the neighbors going about their day while the kids are inside working on their English. The school started because there was a need for something close by in this part of Chengalpattu. It’s not a massive campus, just a practical setup where we can keep an eye on everyone. The stairs are narrow, and we have to remind the children not to run down them every single afternoon when the bell rings. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just open the windows to let the breeze in from the street. It gets a bit loud when the school van pulls up, but that’s just how it is here. We spend a lot of time talking to parents at the gate about simple things like uniforms or missing notebooks. The rooms are filled with charts and drawings the kids made last month. It feels more like a big family house than a cold institution. We don’t have a giant auditorium, so we do most things right there in the main hall or the courtyard. It’s a bit of a squeeze when everyone is gathered, but we manage.
