Odiyur School

You can find us right on the East Coast Road at number 146 in Odiyur. It is a very specific spot in the Kanchipuram district. Being so close to the ECR means we see a lot of different traffic passing by all day long. The school itself is a very simple building with no extra frills. It has been here to serve the local community for quite some time now. We have students who live just a short walk away in the nearby houses. The surroundings are quite plain and simple. We have some open space around the main building where the kids can run about and play during their breaks. It is not a fancy park with equipment, just some open ground with a little bit of grass. Inside the school, we have basic classrooms for the different grades. We do not have any air conditioning or fancy cooling systems. We just open up all the windows and hope for a little breeze to come in from the sea. The walls usually have some posters and various drawings that were made by the kids. We try to keep the place as clean as possible but the dust from the busy road always finds its way inside somehow. Our staff is very small and we all know each other well. We all do a bit of everything, from teaching our classes to fixing things that break. There is no big hierarchy here. We just work together to get the job done.
