Maharishi Vidya Mandir

Our school, Maharishi Vidya Mandir, is located at No 92 in the Chengalpattu Bazaar. It is right in the middle of all the action, so there is always something going on outside our doors. Being in the bazaar means it’s a very busy and sometimes loud place to be. We’ve been part of this community for a long time. The building is older, and it has a lot of character, but it also means we have to spend a lot of time on maintenance. We don’t have a corporate office somewhere else making decisions; it’s just us here on the ground. We spend our mornings managing the crowd at the entrance and making sure the kids get into their classrooms safely. Our days are full of small things like fixing a fan or organizing the library books. We don't use big, impressive words to talk about ourselves. We are just a group of people who care about running a decent school. We know the families in the area and we see them every day when they come by the bazaar. It’s a very hands-on job. Sometimes it’s exhausting, especially when the weather is bad, but we just keep at it. We are just a local school trying to do our part for the kids in Chengalpattu without any unnecessary fuss or polish.
