This group is mostly the women from around Chandrapur. We call it Tejokranti Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited. It all happens around Smt Urmila Bhagawanda’s area on Bramhapuri Road. In Ballarpur, life moves at its own pace. We aren't trying to do anything flashy here. We just realized that if we pooled what we grow and what we make, maybe things would get a little bit easier for our families. Most of us have been working the dirt since we were kids. Some days the sun is just too hot, but the work doesn't stop. We sit together on the porch and talk about the prices of seeds or how the weather is changing. It is not some big corporate thing with suits. It’s just us, the local women, wearing our sarees and getting our hands dirty. We deal with the crops we know. Sometimes the transport is a problem or the water isn't enough, but we manage. We aren't looking to get rich quick. We just want to make sure the kids have what they need and the farm stays healthy. Being in Maharashtra, we have seen all kinds of seasons. We just take it one day at a time and help each other out when someone’s tractor breaks or the rain comes too early. It is a simple way of living and we like it.
