Haritganga Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group, Haritganga Farmers Producer Company Limited, is set up in a house in Indira Nagar, Chandrapur. Specifically, it's House Number 39, which belongs to Gangadhar Giradkar. It’s a bit of a residential area, so it doesn't look like a standard business office from the outside. We basically gathered a bunch of farmers from around the area to try and do things together instead of everyone struggling on their own. Farming in this part of Maharashtra is tough work, and the markets don't always go the way you want them to. We spend a lot of time sitting around in the office space talking about the current rates for cotton or soya. It’s mostly just us trying to figure out the logistics of buying supplies in bulk so we can save a little bit of money here and there. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just common-sense stuff. Some days are just spent filling out forms or talking to the bank, which is the boring part of running a producer company. The neighbors know us, and it’s a pretty informal vibe. We don't wear suits or anything; we just wear what we’d wear to the field. Most of the people involved are locals who have been working this land for years. We just hope that by sticking together in this company, we can handle the ups and downs of the seasons a bit better.
